Comments:
  • Email asks you to confirm/update/verify your account data at Royal Bank of Canada by visiting the given link. You will be taken to a spoof website where your details will be captured for the phishers.

  • Royal Bank of Canada never send their users emails requesting personal details in this way.

  • The REAL URL of the spoof website is disguised as "https://www1.royalbank.com/cgi-bin/rbaccess/ rbunxcgi".

  • The spoof website this email links to was not online at time of this report, but variations of the scam which link to working websites are bound to exist, so be wary! The website may have been taken down or disabled by the hosts, but quite often these websites are hosted on the personal computer of the phishers, so may only be online at certain times.

  • The REAL URL of the spoof website looks nothing like the actual Royal Bank of Canada URL.

Dear Royal Bank of Canada customer,

As you may already know, we at Royal Bank of Canada guarantee your online security and partner with you to prevent fraud. Due to the newly introduced Comprehensive Quarterly Updates Program (which is meant to help you against identity theft, monitor your credit and correct any possible errors), we urge you to go through the 2 steps Royal Bank of Canada Account Confirmation process. The operation involves logging in and confirming your identity over a secure connection at:

https://www1.royalbank.com/cgi-bin/ rbaccess/rbunxcgi

After completing the operation, you will be informed whether or not your account has been confirmed with Comprehensive Quarterly.

Thank you for working with us in combating online fraud and also, for choosing Royal Bank of Canada as your Financial Institution.
