Comments:
  • Email asks you to confirm/update/verify your account data at Visa by visiting the given link. You will be taken to a spoof website where your details will be captured for the phishers.

  • Visa never send their users emails requesting personal details in this way.

  • The REAL URL of the spoof website is disguised as "https://visamastercardnet.com/visamc/".

  • The spoof website this email links to was not online at time of this report, but variations of the scam which link to working websites are bound to exist, so be wary! The website may have been taken down or disabled by the hosts, but quite often these websites are hosted on the personal computer of the phishers, so may only be online at certain times.

  • The REAL URL of the spoof website has been chosen to look very similar to the actual Visa URL. Do not be fooled!

"In order to improve cardholders protection and to reduce credit card fraud, we are introducing a new procedure in collaboration with Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programs."

Dear Cardholder,

In order to improve cardholders protection and to reduce credit card fraud, we are introducing a new procedure in collaboration with Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programs. Please go to our website and register your credit/debit card(s), and then create an unique password which will identify you as the rightful owner of the card when you will be using it. The password will be required when doing any online payment and when used in Point of Sales terminals and ATM machines. If you fail to complete this procedure in the next 48 hours your card(s) will be unusable for online purchases and may be blocked until further notice, or you may experience severe financial loss.

Please use our secure website:
https://visamastercardnet.com/visamc/
and register your card(s) and create the codes. If you have more then one card, please repeat the procedure for every one of them. Your card will not be charged without your permission, and all the data is required for verification purposes only.
NOTE: If you have more then one card, it is recommended that you register all of them.

Thank you for your cooperation regarding this matter,
Visa/MasterCard anti-fraud Department.
