Your eBay account has been frauded - Email Scam

Frauded? Since there isn't such a word, spotting this scam should be easy!

This spoof email takes the form of a text message with a 'Complete Ebay Registration' button (see image below) and which links to a fake eBay domain and subsequently a forged web page.

The forged page was removed beofre we had a chance to see it, but we looked into the ownership of http://ebay-suspension.us/... and found that is registered to an individual in the USA and hosted by Yahoo Inc. Clearly nothing to do with eBay.

There is no link or URL cloaking or spoofing employed, the scammers rely on you accepting the bogus domain name as being associated with eBay.

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
