" Dear valued eBay member: "...

This spoof eBay email (see below) is in HTML format (although it does look like a text only email in order add a sense of authenticity to the link text). The link in the email has been disguised using HTML code to look like a genuine link to eBay and it has been further coded to exploit the URL Spoofing bug in Internet Explorer browsers (test your browser - see link on right).

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.

The Spoof Email ...

Dear valued eBay member:
It has come to our attention that your eBay billing updates are
out of order. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your
online experience and update your billing records you will not run
into any future problems with the online service. However, failure
to update your records will result in account termination.

Once you have updated your account records your eBay session will not be
interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update will result in
cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future billing
problems.
