" Dear Citibank user,
As part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reduce the
instance of fraud on our website, we are undertaking a period review of our member
accounts. "... yeah right!...
A spoofed Citibank Bank email which urges recipients to complete
a form using a link provided but the link will lead to forged Citibank web content.
The forged web form was located at http://220.127.116.11/.....
which resolves to networkshosting.com in the USA and clearly has nothing to do
with Citibank.com at all.
The bogus page had been removed by the time we had received this
report, but we would expect the forgery to have represented something very similar,
if not the same, to recent Citibank email scams where
pages have been scripted to open a 'pop-up window' (with forged content) in front
of the genuine citibank.com page.
If you have received this email, please remember that it is very
common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly
different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different
provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common
place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first,
although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
