1. Note the URL of the bogus page ... fleetbanks.com is not a domain owned by Fleet Bank.

Fraudsters use a bogus Fleet Bank domain name to Phish for users' account details...

This spoofed Fleet Bank email (see image below) is in HTML format (although it does look like a text only email in order add a sense of authenticity to the link text). The link in the email has been disguised using HTML code to look like a genuine link to the Fleet Bank web site, but it will instead direct your browser to a forged Fleet Bank web page at a bogus Fleet Bank domain.

You'll notice, from the bogus web page, that the URL consists of a domain name (fleetbanks.com) which is only one letter different to the genuine Fleet Bank domain (fleetbank.com) and is likely to fool many recipients into thinking that it is indeed a genuine site and web page.

Any information submitted is captured through a script located on the same server as the bogus content and is forwarded to an email address (tr1n0@linuxmail.org).

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
