WARNINGS

1. Spoof webpage requests details which are captured and sent to a local script on the same server.

2. Citi NEVER send their users requests to update details.

3. Bogus page is loaded in a pop up window in front of the actual Citi home page to make it appear more authentic.

4. Note the bad spelling and grammar in the email text, a sure sign of a spoof!

5. This email has certainly appeared before in many guises and will again - be vigilente!

 

" Dear client of the Citi, as the technical service of the Citibank"...

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
