traced to a server in Sunnyvale, USA.


1. Email requests you visit spoof Suntrust site to 'restore access to your account' that has been restricted for 'safety reasons'. You have to enter account details and credit card details supposedly to confirm your identity. Details are captured by the spoof webpage and forwarded to a local script.

2. Suntrust never send out emails to their users requesting details like this.

3. Note the spoof URL is easy to spot as not Suntrust.


" Dear SunTrust Valued Member, In our terms and conditions you have agreed to state that your account must always be under your control or those you designate at all times."...

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
