WARNINGS

1. A lottery variant of the 419 style of scam. Correspondance will simply result in requests for 'administration fees' to cover various costs, but you'll never actually get any money back!

2. LOTTERY WINERS almost certainly do not exist, and did you actually enter this lottery? An almost universal rule is that if you haven't entered a competition, you haven't won it! And even if you have the prize is likely is likely to be a fraction of that promised. You'd think a financial company would actually be able to spell the word 'financial' as well!

3. Notice that the sender uses a free, web based email address. A real company would almost certainly use their own.

" Dear Sir/Madam, We are pleased to inform you of the result of the Winners in our International Lottery Program held on the 16th of January, 2004. Your e-mail address attached to ticket number 27522465896-6453 with serial number 3772-554 drew lucky numbers 7-14-18-31-45 which consequently won in the 2ND category, you have therefore been approved for a lump sum pay out of 400,000 EUROS (FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND  EUROS). "...

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.
