Spoof email links to a spoof webpage where victim is prompted to enter their details believing the site is genuine. Details are then forwarded to a local script and captured.

1. Email claims to be from Suntrust asking you to confirm your account data. Link takes you to a spoof login page. If you try to login your details will be captured and forwarded buy a script to the scammers.

2. Suntrust never send users emails requesting details in this way.

3. URL traced to a server in San Diego, USA.

If you have received this email, please remember that it is very common for these email scams to be redistributed at a later date with only slightly different content or the same but with the fake page(s) hosted by a different provider. Also, once you have received one of these hoaxes, it is also common place to receive at least another one and usually a day or two after the first, although not necessarily from the same apparent sender.

 

The Spoof Email ...

Dear SunTrust client, We are performing system maintenance, wich may interfere with access to your Online Services. Due to these technical updates your online account has been deactivate. SunTrust recommend you to reactivate your online account. Go to Internet Banking by clicking this link, verify your identity as a customer of SunTrust and your online account access will be reactivate by our system.       1. Go to https://internetbanking.suntrust.com/
      2. Enter your Customer Indentification Number (CIN) or User ID and Password.
      3. You will be taken to the " Verify Your Identity " page.
      4. After your verification process is completed you will be able to access your account again.* Our goal is to have Internet Banking available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but Internet Banking may be unavailable during the following times for scheduled systems maintenance: Sunday: 12:00am - 6:15am Eastern Time.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause you.
